I, For One, Am Glad

I, for one, am glad the river dolphin
is endangered. Except for lousy eyesight,
they seem to think they're so much better
than us -- as if their streamlined bodies, graceful
in the water, were pinnacles of anatomic form.
What's more, their sex lives are disgusting. I
mean, dolphins will screw anything -- each other,
or a turtle -- even humans. They are known
in South Brazil for shtupping farm girls
who wander too close to the Amazon.
In Pakistan, the border soldiers can't
pay enough attention to their spying
likely sites for "accidental" nuclear discharges,
because they are required to keep eyes out
for Indus River dolphins. See, they even
interfere with politics! Extinction's for
the best, in this case. Dolphins, if allowed
to flourish, might get smarter than us. If
we permit that, soon we'll have to share
our poetry with them, and they won't like
how angsty most of it's become these days.
